Volvo XC90 Engine Oil Finder

The Volvo XC90 is one of the safest cars on the market and one of the beauties in the large SUV class. The Swedish top-class SUV, which elegantly contrasts with its competitors Audi Q7 , BMW X5 or Land Rover Discovery, offers ample space in the interior and trunk and an extremely elegant interior that inspires many customers with a soft spot for Scandinavian design.

The five and eight cylinder engines were banished from the engine compartment in the second edition of the XC90 and replaced by small-displacement four-cylinder turbo engines, which transfer their 190 to 407 hp to the road, mostly with four-wheel drive.

With a length of 4.95 meters and a width of 1.96 meters, the Volvo XC90 sits firmly and securely on the road. These stately dimensions and the long wheelbase of 2.98 meters make the XC90, which was joined in 2017 with the second generation of the Volvo XC60 by an equally stately but slightly more active SUV, the ideal long-distance car.

For the 2018 model year, Volvo made some changes to the equipment program of the XC90. The new base model is called Momentum. The Momentum not only has a lot of safety equipment, but much more. The LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, the power tailgate and the power-height-adjustable front seats with four-way lumbar support.

Motor oil is a vital part of your Volvo XC90's engine. It provides the much needed lubrication to many of the internal parts of an engine. One of its key job is to prevent wear and tear on the moving parts and helps keep the engine running smoothly. Without oil, the engine would cease up almost immediately.

Regularly checking and changing your Volvo XC90 engine oil is really important. Every time you start and run your car, very fine by-products from the combustion in the engine will be collected in the engine oil. This is one of the reasons why over time the oil goes black. If these contaminants build up too much and exceed the capacity of the oil it can have a negative impact on your car’s overall efficiency and actually effect its performance as it creates sludge and increased wear in the engine block.

Every engine oil will have its viscosity grade labelled on the packaging. This will look something like 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40. This grading is used to measure how thick / fluid the oil is and help ensure you buy the right oil for your car. The lower the viscosity grade of the oil, the more fluid and thinner it will be than those with a high grade (higher numbers) which will be much less running and thick.

So which engine oil should you buy for your Volvo XC90? Whether you are topping up your Volvo XC90 oil or doing a full change of your Volvo XC90's oil it is really important that you use the correct grade of oil.

We have listed all the Volvo XC90 models and engine types in the following table, as well as the correct engine oil grade for each of the cars. You can use the search and filter to easily find the right engine oil for your Volvo XC90.
