SsangYong Rexton Oil Type Finder

With the Rexton, the South Korean carmaker SsangYong has been offering a real workhorse since 2001. The second generation has been on sale since 2017: the SUV impresses with its high level of suitability for everyday use, lots of luxury and powerful engines.

The second generation of the SsangYong Rexton was presented in 2017. The variants of the new generation also impress with powerful engines suitable for everyday use. This was initially a choice of diesel and petrol engines. While the petrol engine put a full 225 hp on the road, the diesel engine's performance was significantly lower at 181 hp. With this latest generation diesel engine, the SsangYong Rexton comes with standard four-wheel drive. This is matched by an 8-speed automatic transmission, which enables fast gear changes with a very high level of driving comfort at the same time.

In order to adapt the engines to the current needs of users, the variants on offer were extensively revised in 2021. Here, the Korean carmaker deleted, among other things, the petrol engine and brought a new diesel engine to the offer. With 202 hp and a torque of 441 Nm, this offers significantly more power. The engine also impresses with its low consumption of just 7.5 litres and meets the current Euro 6d emissions standard.

Motor oil is a vital part of your SsangYong Rexton's engine. It provides the much needed lubrication to many of the internal parts of an engine. One of its key jobs is to prevent wear and tear on the moving parts which helps keep the engine running smoothly. Without oil, the engine would cease up almost immediately.

Regularly checking and changing your SsangYong Rexton engine oil is really important. Every time you start and run your car, very fine by-products from the combustion in the engine will be collected in the engine oil. This is one of the reasons why over time the oil goes black. If these contaminants build up too much and exceed the capacity of the oil it can have a negative impact on your car’s overall efficiency and actually effect its performance as it creates sludge and increased wear in the engine block.

Every engine oil will have its viscosity grade labelled on the packaging. This will look something like 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40. This grading is used to measure how thick / fluid the oil is and help ensure you buy the right oil for your car. The lower the viscosity grade of the oil, the more fluid and thinner it will be than those with a high grade (higher numbers) which will be much less running and thick.

So which engine oil should you buy for your SsangYong Rexton? Whether you are topping up your SsangYong Rexton oil or doing a full change of your SsangYong Rexton's oil it is really important that you use the correct grade of oil.

We have listed all the SsangYong Rexton models and engine types in the following table, as well as the correct engine oil grade for each of the cars. You can use the search and filter to easily find the right engine oil for your SsangYong Rexton.
