Hyundai Tucson Oil Type Finder

The Hyundai Tucson model has been available from the Korean manufacturer since 2004 and was initially produced until 2009. Back then it had big googly eyes and a chunky shape, the Tucson of that time made it obvious that it was descended from the off-road vehicle and that practical use was the most important factor.

In 2015, the Tucson was revived alongside the ix35 under its original name, continuing what the ix35 started with: the grille was enlarged, the headlights extended well into the front fenders and overall the third-generation Tucson was already much more in line with what what you imagine an SUV to be compared to a pure off-road vehicle.

The fourth generation followed in autumn 2020 and set new design standards for the Tucson. The sharply drawn look gives the Tucson a sporty look and the highlight is a total of ten LED elements that have been incorporated into the gaps in the radiator grille as daytime running lights.

Little remains of the original Tucson. It has also developed significantly further in terms of practical benefits and can serve far more requirements than it did back then. Now it meets the expectations of an SUV, can be used as a family car, is already available as a hybrid and also as a plug-in hybrid.

Motor oil is a vital part of your Hyundai Tucson's engine. It provides the much needed lubrication to many of the internal parts of an engine. One of its key jobs is to prevent wear and tear on the moving parts which helps keep the engine running smoothly. Without oil, the engine would cease up almost immediately.

Regularly checking and changing your Hyundai Tucson engine oil is really important. Every time you start and run your car, very fine by-products from the combustion in the engine will be collected in the engine oil. This is one of the reasons why over time the oil goes black. If these contaminants build up too much and exceed the capacity of the oil it can have a negative impact on your car’s overall efficiency and actually effect its performance as it creates sludge and increased wear in the engine block.

Every engine oil will have its viscosity grade labelled on the packaging. This will look something like 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40. This grading is used to measure how thick / fluid the oil is and help ensure you buy the right oil for your car. The lower the viscosity grade of the oil, the more fluid and thinner it will be than those with a high grade (higher numbers) which will be much less running and thick.

So which engine oil should you buy for your Hyundai Tucson? Whether you are topping up your Hyundai Tucson oil or doing a full change of your Hyundai Tucson's oil it is really important that you use the correct grade of oil.

We have listed all the Hyundai Tucson models and engine types in the following table, as well as the correct engine oil grade for each of the cars. You can use the search and filter to easily find the right engine oil for your Hyundai Tucson.
