With the BMW 2 Series, BMW has been offering compact vehicles in different body styles since 2014. The 2-Series can be ordered as a coupe, active tourer and convertible. The 2 series has been available to order from dealers since March 2018. The two-door coupe has the designation F22, the convertible runs under the abbreviation F23. F45 stands for the small 2 Series Active Tourer, F46 for the Gran Tourer and F87 for the powerful BMW M2 Coupe. Choose from the following petrol models: 216i, 218i, 220i, 228i, 230i, M235i, M235ix, M240i, M240ix, M2 and M2 Competition (136 to 450 hp). The 216d, 218d, 220d, 220d xDrive and 225d are available as turbo diesels (116 to 224 hp).

BMW 2 Series Oil Change Interval

Every BMW 2 Series has a flexible oil change interval, depending on driving conditions. The oil must be changed after 30,000 kilometers or 24 months at the latest.

What Engine Oil For BMW 2 Series?

No matter what type 1 you drive, whether a petrol engine like the 116i, 118i, 120i, 125i, 130i or 135i, a turbo diesel like the 114d, 116d, 118d, 120d or even the powerful 123d, having the right oil that meets the required specification and has an BMW approval is important. The respective type of oil must be able to show the BMW LongLife 04 specification.

Every engine oil will have its viscosity grade labelled on the packaging. This will look something like 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40. This grading is used to measure how thick / fluid the oil is and help ensure you buy the right oil for your car. The lower the viscosity grade of the oil, the more fluid and thinner it will be than those with a high grade (higher numbers) which will be much less running and thick.

How To Reset inspection or oil change on BMW 2 Series F22/F23/F45/F46/F87

Step 1: First turn on your car without starting the engine. Use the START button without starting the car's engine.

Step 2: Once you have turned on your car, then press and hold the RESET button . Press the RESET button on the bottom left of the dash to take you to one of the service lights.

Step 3: Go to "ENGINE OIL" section. After that, you can scroll through the menu by clicking the same button ( RESET button ) and find the service reminder you want to reset.

Step 4: In the fourth step, press and hold the RESET button again. If you want to reset the service reminder now, press and hold the button until the message "Perform reset?" appears on your screen.

Step 5: Release the RESET button and hold it down a third time. You need to press and hold the RESET button again to confirm the process and this will then complete the reset process.

Reset inspection or oil change on the BMW 2 Series G42

This guide is for the latest generation of BMW 2 Series. You can reset the service interval on this generation with the BC button at the end of the left lever.

Step 1: First, press the start button three times in a row (at a moderate pace) and wait for the message "Diagnostic mode active" to appear.

Step 2: Now hold down the BC button for a few seconds to get to the reset menu.

Step 3: From the reset menu, you can scroll through different services. To do this, use the BC button to scroll through the menu until you get to the "ENGINE OIL" menu item.

Step 4: To reset the service reminder, you need to press and hold the BC button again, it will then automatically ask you if you want to reset the service.

Step 5: In the final step, release and hold the BC button repeatedly to complete the process completely.
