Citroen C2 Engine Oil Finder

The Citroen C2 was once advertised as a "city sports car" by its proud manufacturer. In the production period between 2003 and 2009, the little Frenchman was also popular in Germany. Its compact dimensions make it particularly attractive for city traffic.

When the C2 was launched in 2003, two variants were available with engine sizes of either 1.1 litres or 1.4 litres. In the basic version, a petrol engine with 60hp could be found under the short hood. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h was a fairly average 16.1s. The larger 1.4l engine delivered 73hp. Various upgrades followed for the French car over the next few years including the 1.6 16V VTR model. Thanks to a displacement of 1.6 litres, this sporty version of the Citroen C2 achieved 109hp. A year later, by far the most powerful C2 VTS, equipped with 122hp was launched.

At launch, the small Citroen C2 was only available as a petrol engine. It was not until 2004 that a version with a diesel engine followed, the 1.4 HDi 70. Initially, buyers could only opt for this version with 68hp. The 1.6 HDi 110 model presented in 2006 impressed with 109hp in the diesel variant. To do this, Citroen doubled the number of engine valves and worked on the maximum torque of the engine. In November 2009 the construction period of the C2 ended. This explains why alternative drives played no role in this car. But even with the successor, the Citroen DS3, the French manufacturer did not use any other fuel alternatives.

Every engine oil will have its viscosity grade labelled on the packaging. This will look something like 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40. This grading is used to measure how thick / fluid the oil is and help ensure you buy the right oil for your car. The lower the viscosity grade of the oil, the more fluid and thinner it will be than those with a high grade (higher numbers) which will be much less running and thick.

So which engine oil should you buy for your Citroen C2? Whether you are topping up your Citroen C2 oil or doing a full change of your Citroen C2's oil it is really important that you use the correct grade of oil.
