Ford Fiesta Engines

The Fiesta has always had a wide choice of engines to choose from. It all started in 2008 with various petrol engines ranging from 1.25 and 1.4 to 1.6 litres and with 74 kW/100 hp to 99 kW/134 hp. There were also some diesel engines with a combustion chamber volume of 1.4 to 1.6 litres and 51 kW/70 HP to 70 KW/95 HP. The diesels were only available with a manual switch, while the 1.4 and 1.6 liter petrol engines were available with automatic or dual-clutch transmissions. The 2012 facelift had the highly acclaimed three-cylinder Ecoboost engine with 1.0 and 1.6 liters.

The Fiesta collected five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test 2008. Early models are only equipped with four airbags, after the facelift the previously optional head-shoulder airbag was added to the standard scope. An emergency brake assistant has also been part of the equipment that has always been on board since the fresh cell treatment in 2012. If you want air conditioning, you have to buy a used one in the "Titanium" equipment line.

Topping up engine oil in the Ford Fiesta

• 1) Purchase compatible oil for your Ford Fiesta. • 2) Open the bonnet and then measure the oil level first. • 3) Now carefully pour a small amount into the Ford Fiesta's oil nozzle. • 4) Now wait a few minutes before measuring the oil level again. • 5) Do not restart the Ford Fiesta until you have verified that the oil level is between the "Min" and "Max" marks.

More detailed information on when the inspection is due and under what circumstances it becomes necessary early can be found in the operating instructions and in the service booklet of the Ford Fiesta.

Every engine oil will have its viscosity grade labelled on the packaging. This will look something like 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40. This grading is used to measure how thick / fluid the oil is and help ensure you buy the right oil for your car. The lower the viscosity grade of the oil, the more fluid and thinner it will be than those with a high grade (higher numbers) which will be much less running and thick.

So which engine oil should you buy for your Ford Fiesta? Whether you are topping up your Ford Fiesta oil or doing a full change of your Ford Fiesta's oil it is really important that you use the correct grade of oil.
