Vauxhall Mokka Engine Oil Finder

The Opel / Vauxhall Mokka has changed a lot over the years and is hardly recognizable anymore. It no longer has much in common with the first Opel Mokka X that left the production line. The fresh look is visibly good for the SUV, and as modern as it is today, the Mokka fits perfectly with the demands that customers place on the mini-SUV segment.

Vauxhall launched the first generation of the SUV in 2012 under the name "Mokka X". It still seemed quite clumsy and conveyed little of the combination of off-road vehicle and sporty look that makes the SUV design so successful. The steeply sloping bonnet rose high above the roof line, making the profile of the Mokka almost reminiscent of a van.

All that changed after the takeover of the Opel car brand by the PSA group in 2017. The new edition of the Opel Mokka 2020 not only lost the "X" in the name, but is presented on a completely new platform, which it shares with the Citroen C4, among others. This gives the new Mokka a more angular shape and SUV prestige, while at the same time it has shrunk by almost twelve centimetres and is therefore definitely one of the mini-SUVs. At the same time, the new platform opened up unprecedented possibilities in terms of alternative drives and ultimately paved the way for the electric version of the Mokka, the Opel Mokka-e.

Motor oil is a vital part of your Vauxhall Mokka's engine. It provides the much needed lubrication to many of the internal parts of an engine. One of its key job is to prevent wear and tear on the moving parts and helps keep the engine running smoothly. Without oil, the engine would cease up almost immediately.

Regularly checking and changing your Vauxhall Mokka engine oil is really important. Every time you start and run your car, very fine by-products from the combustion in the engine will be collected in the engine oil. This is one of the reasons why over time the oil goes black. If these contaminants build up too much and exceed the capacity of the oil it can have a negative impact on your car’s overall efficiency and actually effect its performance as it creates sludge and increased wear in the engine block.

Every engine oil will have its viscosity grade labelled on the packaging. This will look something like 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40. This grading is used to measure how thick / fluid the oil is and help ensure you buy the right oil for your car. The lower the viscosity grade of the oil, the more fluid and thinner it will be than those with a high grade (higher numbers) which will be much less running and thick.

So which engine oil should you buy for your Vauxhall Mokka? Whether you are topping up your Vauxhall Mokka oil or doing a full change of your Vauxhall Mokka's oil it is really important that you use the correct grade of oil.

We have listed all the Vauxhall Mokka models and engine types in the following table, as well as the correct engine oil grade for each of the cars. You can use the search and filter to easily find the right engine oil for your Vauxhall Mokka.

More About the Mokka
Looking at the length and width of the Opel Mokka, it is little more than a small car such as the classic Opel Corsa. The Mokka of the current generation is only 4.15 meters long and towers over the Corsa by only ten centimetres. The decisive advantage of the Mokka is its height, because there, too, it differs from the Corsa by ten centimetres. You sit in the Mokka as high as you would expect from an Opel SUV and enjoy comfortable entry and a better overview.

The petrol engines offer the greater choice in the Opel Mokka. They also come from the PSA group and are well known to us from Peugeot models. You can choose between 100 and 130 hp for the petrol engines. High-torque diesel drives, which already develop a lot of torque in the lower speed range, are still popular with SUVs. The Mokka is also available as a diesel, but there is only one option here.
