Honda Accord Engine Oil Finder

The various engines of the Honda Accord must always be used with an engine oil that has a manufacturer's approval - check out the correct oil type in the list of Honda Accord models below.

The eighth generation Honda Accord was available from 2008 with three different engines: one diesel and two petrol. In March 2011, Honda expanded this range with a second diesel variant, which was significantly more powerful with roughly the same consumption, accelerated better and also achieved a higher top speed.

The eighth series Honda Accord engines are:
- 2.0 i-VTEC (2008 – 2015)
- 2.0 i-VTEC (2008 – 2015)
- 2.2 i-DTEC 150 (2008 – 2015)
- 2.2 i-DTEC 180 (2011 – 2015)

Overall, the Honda Accord car drives properly and does not hold any really bad surprises. The handling is dynamic and the engine performance is almost sporty. In view of these characteristics, the fuel consumption is reasonable at less than 9L per 100 kilometers. The eighth generation Accord available from us are equipped with 156 or 201 hp (gasoline), the diesel engines have 150 or 180 hp under the hood. The current tenth generation is to receive an update in terms of styling and technology in 2022, although no completely new series is currently planned. This model will probably not return to Europe either.

Motor oil is a vital part of your Honda Accord's engine. It provides the much needed lubrication to many of the internal parts of an engine. One of its key job is to prevent wear and tear on the moving parts and helps keep the engine running smoothly. Without oil, the engine would cease up almost immediately.

Regularly checking and changing your Honda Accord engine oil is really important. Every time you start and run your car, very fine by-products from the combustion in the engine will be collected in the engine oil. This is one of the reasons why over time the oil goes black. If these contaminants build up too much and exceed the capacity of the oil it can have a negative impact on your car’s overall efficiency and actually effect its performance as it creates sludge and increased wear in the engine block.

Every engine oil will have its viscosity grade labelled on the packaging. This will look something like 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40. This grading is used to measure how thick / fluid the oil is and help ensure you buy the right oil for your car. The lower the viscosity grade of the oil, the more fluid and thinner it will be than those with a high grade (higher numbers) which will be much less running and thick.

So which engine oil should you buy for your Honda Accord? Whether you are topping up your Honda Accord oil or doing a full change of your Honda Accord's oil it is really important that you use the correct grade of oil.

We have listed all the Honda Accord models and engine types in the following table, as well as the correct engine oil grade for each of the cars. You can use the search and filter to easily find the right engine oil for your Honda Accord.
