For this reason, you should always follow Kia's specifications when choosing the best engine oil. Kia releases this specification for the 1.6 GDI hybrid vehicles from 2016: ACEA A5/B5 SAE 5W-30

Never just look at the SAE number alone. This term only describes the viscosity of an engine oil. So the flow behavior at high and low temperatures, nothing else. A variety of special additives are added to modern engine oils; your engine is perfectly adapted to this "special mixture".

Kia Niro Oil Change Interval

Kia specifies fixed intervals for oil changes on the Niro. The oil should be changed with the minor and major service every 15,000 km or once a year.

Under difficult operating conditions, the service and therefore the oil change can be scheduled earlier due to:

• Frequent use in short-haul or city traffic
• Frequent operation at idle speed
• Frequent use on dusty roads or roads with road salt
• Predominantly cold or hot weather
• Frequent trips in the mountains
• Frequent trailer operation
• Use as a taxi or towing vehicle
• After long journeys at high speed

The engine burns best when it has reached operating temperature. If it is still cold or is particularly stressed, more combustion residues are created. These enter the oil circuit via the oil film between the piston and cylinder. This causes the engine oil to become dirty more quickly and can no longer adequately protect the engine from damage.
