How Often Should You Change The Oil in a BMW X1?

The most important thing is that you stick to the intervals specified by BMW when changing your oil. They depend primarily on the mileage or running time of your X1. Each X1 engine has a flexible oil change interval, so the oil change is always calculated and signaled by the service display. This should be done at the latest after 30,000 km or after 24 months.

How Much Oil Does A X1 Need?

The engine oil capacity varies between 4.25 and 5.25 litres for the BMW X1 models and varies depending on the engine size. With 4.25 liters of oil, the sDrive18i has the smallest capacity. With the xDrive25i, you have to fill in the largest amount of oil at 5.25 liters. All other models fall within this range.

What is the approved oil for a BMW?

For all newer BMW engines built after 2004, engine oil is specified according to the BMW Longlife-04 standard. This includes both petrol and diesel engines. The oil is characterized, among other things, by the fact that it is based on Low-SAPS technology, i.e., it has a low proportion of sulfate ash (SA), phosphorus (P), and sulfur (S). This is particularly important for diesel engines with a particle filter (DPF), as otherwise, the filter would become clogged.

Engine oil with the BMW Longlife-04 approval is available in the viscosities 5W-30, 0W-30, 5W-40, and 0W-40.

The Castrol Magnatec Stop/Start 5W-30 C3 brand oil is recommended for the X1 Type F48 and F49. Always pay attention to the prescribed specification and the Longlife 04 approval from BMW.
